STREAMABLE-HTTP ENDPOINT · FREE · NO KEY
Live-published Canadian banking terms, for any MCP-compatible agent.
This is not a rate quote. This is the bank's own published number, with its original wording. BLIA offers three read-only tools, free, with no key required. These tools work with any MCP client: Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, and any other tool that reads a streamable-HTTP endpoint. This is the first surface of a wider catalogue that already covers the Big Five, and grows next toward credit unions. See the BLIA vision overview for the full roadmap.

"What's the monthly fee on BMO's everyday chequing account, and how is it waived?"
Does your client not find the server? Does a value come back empty? See MCP Support for per-client config snippets and a troubleshooting table.
THE SURFACE
Every product in scope, filterable by institution, class, and province. BLIA pages results. Each page holds up to 50 products.
Every published term for one product, scoped by cohort and channel. A term with no data returns not_published. BLIA never omits a term silently.
Two to ten products side by side in one call: monthly fee, annual fee before waivers, included transactions, minimum balance, NSF fee, waiver conditions and what is missing, ranked by monthly fee. It never applies a waiver to your balances. A product whose fee BLIA has not published is listed, not ranked.
Welcome offers BLIA has recorded: what you get (cash and any non-cash part), what you must do to qualify, and when the offer ends. Conditions not recorded are reported as unknown, never as none.
Standing perks of holding an account, such as a credit card annual fee rebate or a safe deposit box. Ask for one benefit to see which accounts include it, which do not, and which BLIA has not recorded.

PRICING
The lookup tier stays free. Nothing here converts to paid later. The paid tier is a different kind of answer, not a rate-limited version of this one.
CONTRACT
An unpublished attribute returns not_published, never a blank field. A blank field can make an agent assume "no such fee." That assumption is wrong.
SOURCING
Terms come from published disclosures, not syndicated feeds or scraped guesses. Coverage is BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, RBC and TD, chequing accounts — the full Big Five.
EVIDENCE
The schema reserves fields for source quote, content hash, and retrieval time. These fields are absent from every free response. BLIA never shows them partially.
WHERE IT LIVES
The endpoint is live. BLIA states the directory listings below as a plan, not as a claim. Coverage is BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, RBC and TD, chequing accounts — the full Big Five. Coverage next expands to credit cards, high-interest savings accounts, and credit unions. After that, coverage expands beyond Canada. See the roadmap on the vision overview for target dates.
| SURFACE | WHAT'S NEEDED | STATUS |
|---|---|---|
| Any MCP client (Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, …) | Point the client at the endpoint. No submission is necessary. | AT LAUNCH |
| Official MCP registry (registry.modelcontextprotocol.io) | The publish runbook is ready and the endpoint now verifies. Submission follows. | NEXT |
| ~40 surveyed MCP directories | BLIA will submit to them over time after launch, not all on day one. | PLANNED |
| Public GitHub repository | Opens with the 1.0 release. The server software is Apache-2.0. The catalogue data is not. | PLANNED |
FAQ
Yes. The endpoint is live. It serves BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, RBC and TD chequing lineups from the published catalogue — the full Big Five. It is not yet listed in the public MCP directories. See the status table above.
The five lookup tools are free, anonymous, and rate-limited by IP. No signup and no key are necessary. This stays true indefinitely.
BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, RBC and TD, chequing accounts — the full Big Five. More account types and more countries come next. Confirm current scope with list_bank_products, which is the only answer that is current by construction.
Every value traces to a frozen, signed snapshot with a version number. The free tier does not show the underlying source quote or corroboration status. Those fields belong to the paid layer.
Apache-2.0. The license covers the server software, not the catalogue data.
